Job Offer: Economic Assistant at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Iraq

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baghdad is looking for an economic assistent. Please find all the details and instructions bellow.

Summary: Embassy of the Czech Republic in Iraq is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Economic Assistant. This position is full-time (40 hours per week).

Start date: As soon as possible. (Please note that the clearance period may take 2-3 months.)

Duties: The position is responsible for a wide range of analytical reporting and information gathering on the macroeconomic economic situation, trade, investments, but also the sociopolitical situation in Iraq; day-to-day networking with Iraqi institutions and business representatives; preparation of briefs for the Ambassador, his Deputy, and the Economic Counsellor.

Education: University degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred, candidates with a degree in political science, international relations, or other social or humanities degrees are also encouraged to apply.

Experience: Relevant professional experience in trade, business, commercial activities, or government-related positions. Experience from other embassies, especially from the commerce department, is highly welcomed. Applicants with only relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.

Language: English B2+, Arabic fluent

Job knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Iraqi economy, political developments, business sector, commercial environment, agriculture, and industry.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to research, assess and analyze a wide range of complex economic and political issues, and prepare analysis and reports on these issues.

Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of mid and high-level contacts in the Iraqi government and private sector.

Excellent written and spoken English, excellent spelling skills.

Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Duration appointment: Fixed period of one year with an annual extension of the contract, probationary period of three months at the beginning of the appointment.

Benefits: Annual financial benefits in addition to the salary.

The successful applicant will be required to pass security clearance by Czech authorities.
