The Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) has confidence of 63% of citizens of the Czech Republic. According to the Public Opinion Research Centre it is a positive result. The CZSO was evaluated to be the best from institutions, which were part of the public opinion survey.
“Despite the fact that during recent years the general confidence of Czech citizens in their country and its institutions has been shaken to a considerable extent, the Czech Statistical Office manages to maintain a rather high confidence of the public (over three fifths),” Jan Červenka from the Public Opinion Research Centre said.
As for the percentage of those who have confidence, the CZSO along with mayors, local councils, and the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic are evaluated to be the best. A share of those who do not have confidence in the CZSO is 23% and it is the lowest percentage from all the surveyed institutions.
The CZSO, in terms of the reached level of confidence by the public in relation to distrust thereof, ranked first when compared to other institutions. Citizens have significantly more confidence in the CZSO the higher their highest educational attainment is or the better evaluation of their living standard is.
“It is evident that we successfully manage to maintain high prestige and good reputation of the CZSO. We observe professional quality and independence of official statistics, which is obviously valued by data users,” Marek Rojíček , the President of the CZSO, summarised it.
The public is mostly aware that activities of the CZSO relate to the Population and Housing Census and survey on the population size. An overall majority of Czech citizens connects the CZSO in their minds with processing of election results or with monitoring of the economic development.
