Czech Embassy participated in the European Higher Education Fair in Phnom Penh

On September 13, 2023, representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Phnom Penh participated in the second year of the "European Higher Education Fair (EHEF)" organized by the Delegation of the European Union in Cambodia. Participating Cambodian students were provided with information about scholarships and higher education opportunities in the Czech Republic both at the Czech stand and in the form of a multimedia presentation. Students also had the opportunity to communicate and ask questions to two former Czech scholarship holders and two present representatives of the Mendel University in Brno. Interested parties have been notified that the deadline for submitting applications for the academic year 2024/2025 will expire on September 30, 2023 (for more information please see Czech Governmental Scholarships for Academic Year 2024/ 2025 application is now open | Embassy of the Czech Republic in Phnom Penh (mzv.cz)).

The ceremonial opening of the event was provided by the EU Ambassador-designate, H.E. Igor Driesmans, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, H.E. Touch Visalsok. In addition to the Czechia, university scholarships from other member states (Finland, France, Italy, Hungary, Germany and Sweden) and the European Union as a whole were presented. Cambodian academic staff and students who received a scholarship under the "Erasmus+" program were also presented at the fair. In the last 3 years alone (2020 - 2022), over 120 Cambodian students and almost 60 teachers had the opportunity to study at various European universities.

This year's EHEF was well attended, with over 350 young Cambodians from over 20 public and private universities and high schools attending. This is double the number compared to last year, when the fair was held for the first time.
