European Blockchain Sandbox best practices report 2023

The Commission is pleased to announce the publicatoin of the complete European Blockchain Sandbox best practices report 2023.

The first part of the report was published earlier this year. It includes a summary of the experiences gained and lessons learned in setting up and running the first cohort of regulatory dialogues. It has now been complemented by the best practices report, published today.

The lessons learned and best practices were gathered during dialogues with the first cohort, and are significant to the wider blockchain community.

The report was launched during a webinar on 20 June, where the European Blockchain Sandbox team shared an overview of best practices and answered audience questions.

The webinar also announced the recipient of the Most Innovative Regulator Award. The honour was awarded by a panel of independent academic experts on the basis of outstanding and innovative contributions during the first cohort of dialogues.

The winners were:

  • BFDI (Der Bundesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit)
  • Banco de Espana
  • CNMV (Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores)
  • NKOM (Nasjonal kommunikasjonsmyndighet)
  • Banca d'Italia

Cohort 2 of the blockchain sandbox was announced last week. The selected projects span all EU/EEA regions and a range of industry sectors.

Further best practices reports for cohort 2 and 3 will be published following the completion of each of these cohorts, and the most innovative regulator of each cohort will be awarded following the cohort dialogues.
